Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an American author, poet, and critic. In 1834 Poe married his cousin Virginia, who was not quite fourteen at the time, and began seriously seeking a means of supporting "his family." Larry Sitsky was born in Tientsin, China in 1934, and came to Australia in 1951. He studied at the N.S.W. State Conservatorium of Music, and after graduating in 1954 continued his piano studies with Winifred Burston and later in the U.S.A. with Egon Petri. On his return to Australia, Sitsky took up positions at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the University of Queensland.
